CBD Oil and Cannabis have been linked as potential treatments and cures for cancer. In this video we look at the facts and research surrounding the topic!
Complete Guide to CBD Oil”
There is only one actual FDA approved use for cannabis as it relates to cancer. There are two cannabinoids (Dronabinol and Nabilone) that are synthetically produced. Both of these cannabinoids closely resemble THC, not CBD. This is important to note since all cannabinoids are similar, but definitely not the same.
This is a big reason that medical cannabis has been legalized in 33 states as of 2019.
Both cannabinoids help with many of the side effects of chemotherapy including nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. In fact, in a review of 1366 patients these cannabinoids performed better than many commonly prescribed drugs.
While CBD and cannabis show a lot of promise as a treatment, things are much more clouded from a prevention perspective.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has reviewed a large number of studies and determined that as of now the research has yielded mixed results.
Smoking cannabis produces many of the same carcinogens that tobacco does, so it is not a better alternative from a lung cancer perspective either.
This is possibly the most exciting, and debated, use for cannabis and CBD. In an article by Higher Perspective they linked to 100 studies showing cannabis’s use as a Cancer Cure.
That being said, no major medical organization has gone on record saying anything more than ‘Cannabis shows promise.’
The research that has been done points to CBD and THC connecting to your CB1 and CB2 receptors at the site of the cancer cell. Most studies and papers seem to think that the receptors put metabolic pressure on the cancerous cells.
This leaves the cancerous cells to fight for survival, a fight they eventually lose. It also means they don’t have the energy to replicate and infect nearby cell, stopping the spread of the disease.
Because each type of cancer is different, we also recommend you see a medical professional to discuss the best method of treatment for your particular case.
